10 DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 – CASABLANCA / CHEFCHAOUEN
We will head north of Rabat to visit the Exotic Gardens at Bouknadel, after
which we will continue through the Rif mountains towards Chefchaouen, the
Blue City of Morocco. Your Riad will be situated within the old Medina.
After we will arrive we will check in to the Riad and then have a tour that
will feature the Medina and the surrounding area. Dinner and overnight at
Riad
DAY 2 – CHEFCHAOUEN / FES
After breakfast we will depart to the ancient city of Fes. On our way we will
have several stops including the Sidi Chahid Lake and several villages. Once
we arrive in Fes Medina, we will check in to the Riad and then start off our
exploration of the oldest city and spiritual capital of Morocco. Step back six
centuries into the medieval Medina with its narrow and cobbled streets filled
with ancient mosques, towering green glazed minarets and crumbling
fondouks. Narrow openings into private worlds reveal architecture of
peaceful courtyards filled with carved cedar, brilliantly colored mosaic tiles
and delicately carved stucco ornaments. Our tour will include Medrasas,
mosques, the famous tanneries and much more. Dinner in a local restaurant
and overnight at Riad
DAY 3 – FES / BAHLIL / SEFROU / FES
After breakfast the morning will be devoted to seeing the rest of the city of
Fes. This will take us to the Royal Palace gates, the view of Fes Medina and
the new town. We will go to the edge of the middle Atlas Mountains and
visit the small town of Bhalil where you are invited for lunch at my family
home. After lunch we will visit a family in their cave house and depart from
there to one of the most beautiful towns of Morocco, Sefrou, which is
known for its UNESCO festival (Cherry Festival). Back to Fes in the
evening for dinner and overnight at the Riad.
DAY 4 – FES / ERFOUD / MERZOUGA
After an early breakfast we depart to Erfoud through the scenic wooded
Middle Atlas Mountains region. Stop in Azrou to visit a Berber village
known for its handicraft cooperative. Lunch will be at the Ayachi Hotel
before continuing to Midelt and the Ziz River through a series of fortified
villages characterized by fascinating southern architecture. Once in
Merzouga we will leave out car and take a camel ride into the desert to see
the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in the desert camp. We will
have a traditional tagine dinner, drink delicious mint tea, listen to traditional
berber music while watching the stars and the rising moon in the amazing
Sahara desert. Overnight at Madu Desert Palace
Day 5 – MERZOUGA / TODRA GORGE / SKOURA
After breakfast you will head back to Erfoud. From Erfoud you set out
behind the High Atlas Mountains on route to the Todra Gorge. In the
afternoon, you will take a walk up in the towering Todra Gorges (600 feet
high). The picturesque river valleys make for a beautiful journey towards the
southeast of Morocco. Then drive towards the Skoura Palmerie. Overnight at
Riad
DAY 6 – SKOURA / DADES VALLEY / SKOURA
Today we will take you on a beautiful drive through the Rose valley and
then into the incredible Dades valley to enjoy all the Berber villages, green
groves of walnuts, willow and fig trees. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as we
make our way back to Shoura. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 7 – SKOURA / QUARZAZATE / MARRAKESH
After breakfast we depart to Ouarzazate which is the Moroccan cinema
capital then to the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah where you will visit the ruins of
this ancient Kasbah. Lunch at Kasbah Ait Benhaddou before we continue via
the Tiz n’Tichka pass (7,415 ft / 2,260 m) and Taddert to Marrakesh for a 2
night stay at Riad
DAY 8 – MARRAKESH
Sightseeing of Marrakesh nicknamed "The Pearl of the South," featuring a
visit to the 16th century Saadian Tombs, Dar Si Said Museum of Moroccan
Arts, the fragrant Menara Gardens, the Koutoubia Minaret and the
magnificent Bahia Palace with its extraordinary tiles, opulent courtyards and
fountains. After lunch on your own, you will visit of the Djemaa-el-Fna
Square where fortune tellers, acrobats, vendors, snake charmers and
magicians put on a never-ending show. In the evening, (optional)
entertainment dinner show at Shahramar restaurant before returning to the
Riad for overnight stay.
DAY 9 – MARRAKESH
Sightseeing of the private gardens of Yves Saint Laurent and the private
Islamic Art Museum. Drive along the city ramparts dividing the town into
the oldest and the newest parts of Marrakesh. The afternoon is free to spend
as you wish with your guide/driver at your disposal. Suggested dinner at a
local restaurant and overnight at the Riad.
DAY 10 – MARRAKESH / CASABLANCA
After an early departure from Marrakesh we make our way back to
Casablanca Airport for departure.
