14 DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN CASABLANCA
Greetings and assistance upon arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport.
Transfer to the hotel. Check-in and welcome dinner to introduce you to Morocco
and talk about the plan for the next few days.
DAY 2 – CASABLANCA / RABAT / MEKNES / FES
We will visit the Hassan II Mosque, Ain Diab Corniche Habouss area and the city center.
Then we will continue to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. You will enjoy a sightseeing tour
of Rabat featuring the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower, the outside of the
Royal Palace and the Ouddaya Necropolis. From here we will depart for the Imperial City
of Meknes, also known as "the Moroccan Versailles". Meknes, with its monumental gates
and city walls, was founded at the end of the 17th century by the Sultan Moulay Ismail.
The highlights will include Bab el Mansour (perhaps the finest gateway in Africa);Dar
Jamai Museum, the old Medina, Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, old granaries and stables.
Lunch will be in the small village of Moulay Idriss. After lunch you will depart for the
ancient Roman city of Volubilis where you will enjoy a guided tour of the ruins.
Departure and drive to Fes for your overnight at the Riad.
DAY 3 - FES
After breakfast the entire day will be devoted to sightseeing within the city of Fes, the
spiritual capital of Morocco. Step back six centuries into the medieval Medina with its
narrow and cobbled streets filled with ancient mosques, towering green glazed minarets
and crumbling fondouks. Narrow openings into private worlds reveal architecture of
peaceful courtyards filled with carved cedar, brilliantly colored mosaic tiles and
delicately carved stucco ornaments.
Suggested lunch will be at Palais Nejjarine, a beautiful Arab palace, or an alternative
venue of your choice.
After lunch we will visit the Attarine and Abou Anania Medersas, the Nejjarine fountain,
the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum and the Karaouine Mosque. In the afternoon we will visit
the endless souks, the famous tanneries and Fes Jdid.
Overnight at the Riad.
DAY 4 - FES
Today you can choose what you want to do. Spend more time in the souks or
take a cooking class or take a day trip to Sefrou and Bhalil where you will be
invited to lunch with my family. Back to Fes. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 5 - FES
Today we can plan for a Leadership student camp with the teachers. Students from
different classes can all come together with the goal of discussing options of improving
their schools, communities and themselves.
DAY 6 – FES / SEFROU / BHALIL
We will take our group south of Fes to the small town of Sefrou. This town is very
ancient and is known for its annual Cherry Festival. There we will start doing some
sightseeing including the old Medina, Jewish neighborhood, Em Habanim Orphanage
school and Synagogue and of course the famous Agai waterfalls. After we will hike to the
nearby village of Bhalil, home to hundreds of cave dwellings where some families are
still residing these days. There we will have lunch and visit the UNESCO Club for
Environment and Human Development. We will work on a project that the community
will benefit from. This will be discussed with the leaders for implementation.
One of the days here we will organize for a Cooking Class for our students.
DAY 7 – BHALIL / IMOUZZE / IFRANE / AZROU / MIDELT
After enjoying your breakfast we will make our way through the amazing middle Atlas
Mountains. First we will do the circuits of lakes including the Aoua lake then through the
cedar woods to the town of Ifrane. From here we will do Azrou and the Berber village of
Ain Leuh where we will visit one of the old women’s cooperatives which is run by some
of the women of the village. From there we will drive through one of my favorite places
in the region and Morocco which is the Oum Rbia river and the mountains of Bekrit.
Then we will continue om to the Berber village of Itzer. Arrival in Midelt later that day
for overnight and dinner at Riad.
DAY 8 – MIDELT / RICH / ERRACHIDIA / ERFOUD / RISSANI / MERZOUGA
Today we will start moving over another mountain chain in Morocco which is the eastern
THigh Atlas. After crossing the Talghomt pass we will be in the grand canyons of
Morocco. We will arrive in the city of Errachidia and then proceed to Erfoud before
reaching the village of Merzouga in the Sahara Desert. Rest for a while and enjoy some
desert tea. Take your camel ride to the luxury camp in the heart of the sand dunes. In the
evening we will have an open discussion with the nomadic people of the desert about
their daily life and everything related to the Sahara.
DAY 9 – MERZOUGA AND SURROUNDING AREAS
Today we will explore the desert region and the marvel that is the Erg Chebbi desert
dunes. We will make a circuit of the desert where you will have the opportunity to see the
nomad way of life and the amazing changing contrasts of the desert.
We will visit the village of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians. We will have a
traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the ancient capital of Rissani. Back to Merzouga for
dinner and overnight.
DAY 10 – MERZOUGA / JORF / TODRA GORGE / DADES VALLEY
After breakfast you will travel to Dades Gorge via the the Tafilalt Palm groves, Khattarat
old irrigation system, Tinijdad, Ait Aissa O Brahim and Todra gorges. We will have
lunch in Todra at the Yasmina restaurant. After lunch we will continue our adventure
through the mountains of the Todra and reach our Hotel in Boumalne Du Dades after
winding our way through the rivers and valleys in the gorge. We will overnight at
Boumalne Du Dades.
DAY 11 – DADES / MGOUNA / SKOURA / QUARZAZATE
Morning departure to Ouarzazate via the breathtaking scenery at Mgouna, the Rose valley
and the palmerie of Skoura. Possible visit (if there is no production event) to the movie
studio where scenes from Bertulucci's "The Sheltering Sky", Spielberg's "Gladiator",
"The Last temptation of Christ", and "Lawrence of Arabia" were filmed, We will also
visit in and around the area renowned for its Berber ceramic work and fine carpet
making. If time permits, you will see the Tifoultout and Taourirt Kasbahs. Dinner and
DAY 12 – QUARZAZATE / AIT BEN HADDOU / MARRAKESH
After breakfast we will proceed to the Ait Ben Haddou village where you will visit the
ruins of this ancient Kasbah. Lunch at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou before we continue via
the Tiz-In-Tichka pass (7,415 ft / 2,260 m) and Taddert to Marrakesh. Dinner and
overnight stay at Riad.
DAY 13 – MARRAKESH
Sightseeing of Marrakesh nicknamed The Pearl of the South, featuring a visit to the
16th century Saadian Tombs, Dar Si Said Museum of Moroccan Arts, the fragrant
Menara Gardens, the Koutoubia Minaret and the magnificent Bahia Palace with its
extraordinary tiles, opulent courtyard sand fountains. After lunch on your own, you will
visit the Djemmaa-el-Fna Square where fortune-tellers, acrobats, vendors, snake
charmers and magicians put on a never-ending show. In the evening we can enjoy an
entertainment dinner show at Le Comptoir restaurant or an alternative restaurant of your
choice, before returning to the Riad for overnight stay.
DAY 14 – MARRAKESH / CASABLANCA
We will depart Marrakesh in the morning after breakfast for your Transfer to Casablanca
